Enrollment behavior
This chapter describes how the registration, deletion, and re-registration of endpoints affect license usage.
Registration of Endpoints
When an endpoint is released (e.g., released from quarantine), the system automatically consumes:
- an Essential license
- as well as one license from each active add-on in the associated environment
Registration is only possible if all relevant license pools have sufficient capacity. These include:
- the Essential pool
- all Add-on pools activated in the environment
If no capacity is available in any of these pools, the release of the endpoint is blocked. In this case, an error message is displayed indicating the limiting license pool (e.g., “There are not enough licenses available to activate the endpoint. Please check your license management.”).
Deleting Endpoints
When an endpoint is deleted:
- all occupied licenses (Essential and Add-ons) are automatically released
- the capacity becomes immediately available again in the respective license pool
Re-registration of Known Endpoints
If a previously known endpoint is re-registered (same hostname):
- the new entry is merged with the existing one
- no additional license is consumed
This preserves the existing license assignment and prevents duplicate allocation.
